Contacts for instant messaging
To add contacts to the instant messages contacts list, connect to the instant messages service and
select
IM contacts
.
If the contacts list is empty the phone displays
Contact list empty. Copy contacts from server?
to
retrieve available contacts from the server.
Otherwise press
Options
and select
Add contact
, or if you have no contacts added, press
Add
. Select

Enter ID manually
to enter the ID manually.
•
Search from serv.
to seach for a contact from the server.
•
From contacts
to search for a name in
Contacts
.
•
Copy from server
to copy a name from a server-based contacts list.

When the contact is added, the phone displays
Added to IM contacts:
and the contact name.
Scroll to a contact, and press
Chat
to start to chat, or press
Options
and select

Contact info
to view the details of the selected contact. If you want to edit the details, see Editing
or deleting details in the
Contacts
menu (menu 3) on page 87.
•
Edit name
to edit the contact’s name.
•
Block contact
(or
Unblock contact
) to block (or unblock) the messages from the selected contact.
•
Add contact
to add a new contact from the phone’s contact memory.
•
Remove contact
to remove a contact from the instant messages contact list.
•
Copy to server
to copy a name to a server-based contacts list.
•
Availability alerts
to mark from whom you wish to receive presence alerts.
